Volunteer or Be Our Friend!

Are you looking for something to do? Do feel that you want to help out your community? Do you love books?

Well here we are! You can come on in and volunteer at your local library.  We are accepting volunteers 17 years of age and up. All you have to do is attend one of Volunteer Orientations held on the first Thursday of each month and fill out a volunteer application. You can start working immediately.  Northwest Branch FOL

You can also become a Friend of the Library.  The Friends of the Northwest Library Association provide financial support for programs and library materials through their book sales and other fund raising projects. Membership forms are available at the library and with a $10.00 donation you can start being our Friend. 

You can volunteer at any time and as little or as much time as you want because you will be your own boss! So what are you waiting for?

Book Bags Are Here!

FOL, Library Bags With 3 new exciting colors, magenta, lime green and purple, it is easy to get one of  your very own Harris County Book Bags. Just come in, donate $3.00 to the friends and you will walk out with a fashionable new bag. (not the same as $3.00 book purchase) You can use it to carry your books from the library to your house and back. You can also use it to carry your groceries, gym clothes, other bags, small pet, crafts, audio visual, snail mail, toys, or any of your favorite items. These bags are reusable for many purposes.

Get the eye catching bag that will make your friends envious.

 

Final Book Sale Call

First Book Sale of the year is this Saturday, January 26, 2013.  Our Friends of the Library will be hosting this event.  Everyone is invited to come support your Northwest Library.
 

Gently-used hardcover and paperback books, VHS tapes, CDs, DVDs and audio books, magazines of general interest such as National Geographic, Smithsonian, Texas Monthly, cooking or decorating magazines and select children's magazines, Computer books, Cookbooks, Foreign Language books, Fiction, Romance, Mystery, True Crime, Self Help, Craft books, and on and on.

Give yourself the gift of helping out your library as well as getting that so desired book at bargain prices. Remember, funds collected go straight back to this library. 

New Year, New Events

 

It is a new year and with the new year we have new events at our library. Check out our variety of events we will be hosting. Don't worry we will still keep all your favorites.  We will have programs for those young and young at heart. If you want to learn new skills or just refresh your mind come on in. Check out our events calendar and see for yourself or pick up a calendar in the library for more information. Some events have an age limit for the safety of the little ones and some will require a ticket which you can obtain 30 min prior to the program.  The best part is that all our events and programs are absolutely free!

Cold outside Warm indoors

The temperatures are dropping outside while we try to keep warm indoors.  Why not warm up with some “cold titles”? We have a selection of books with cool or cold titles.  Put them on hold now before these titles become hot!
