News about Inspirational Fiction

Many thanks to our Inspirational Fiction readers for your patience through our changes. Early this year, budget slashes and staff cuts necessitated changes to the way we shelve our collection. The Inspirational Fiction books had to be integrated into the rest of the Fiction department. We know you experience this as a loss and we hope that the Inspirational Fiction display pyramid in the main corridor is helping you find your favorite authors and titles.

Then last week Gail Cooper, your beloved book club leader, resigned. So this week we are announcing that Deana Dick, one of your Inspirational Book Club members and our Senior Circulation Assistant, has graciously accepted the invitation to take on this responsibility.

The July meeting of the Inspirational Book Club will take place Tuesday, July 14th at 7:00 p.m. in the Friends of the Library Room on the first floor of the library. Everyone is welcome. If you haven't joined please consider this your invitation. The group will be discussing Flabbergasted by Ray Blackston. You can pick up a copy of the book at the first floor reference desk.

Become a U.S. Citizen

A United States Customs & Immigration Services representative will be here Tuesday, June 14th at 11am to give a presentation and answer questions about becoming a US citizen. This presentation is directed toward legal permanent residents only. To register, call 832-559-4213.

An Invitation: To Read outside [your personal] box!

Summer is almost upon us and so are our summer reading programs. We, in the Adult department will be challenging our readers to s-t-r-e-t-c-h yourselves with your summer reading this year. Whatever your favorite kinds of books, be they Inspirational, Thrillers, Science Fiction, or Mysteries, we're encouraging you to try something else! We'll be putting up bookmarks with some ideas for you--look for them in the Fiction department and upstairs in Non-Fiction.

And remember that we're happy to request anything you don't see on the shelf, either from another branch or via interlibrary loan from across the country.
