Five Points Town Plaza Concert

Broadway in La Porte. Concert is free. Bring your lawn chairs, mosquito spray, and cooler (no glass).  The concert is sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Department for the City of La Porte. Melissa received a $50 gift card from Amazon as her prize. When asked what prompted her to sign up for ReaderNation, she said: “My son was signing up for summer reading and I wanted to encourage him.  And I decided it couldn’t hurt"! She said that her love for reading was passed on to her by her mother, and she, in turn, had passed on this love to her son. She said she “absolutely enjoyed” every book she logged in for the ReaderNation program.

Friends' Display: Things Found in Books

Stop by the Book Sale Room to see this colorful and interesting bulletin board display which includes old photos, dried leaves, a playing card, labels from canned goods, greeting cards, receipts, etc.  We are grateful to our Friends for giving so generously of their time, talent, and energy to our library!!!

This database contains full text books and periodicals covering both historical and current Texas events, places, and people. For example, a search on San Jacinto Monument brings back 28 hits. Some are chapters from books about the history of the Monument, others are articles about current events from periodicals like Houston Chronicle, Dallas Morning News, Texas Monthly, etc.
