Spring Cleaning Opportunity

Clipart of household hazardous waste products from JupiterImagesDon't know what to do about all the old paint, pesticides, household and car batteries, etc. hanging around your house? If you are a resident of La Porte, Morgan’s Point or Shoreacres and need to properly dispose of household products which may contain hazardous ingredients, come to the City of La Porte Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day on Saturday, April 6th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The materials will be collected at the La Porte Public Works Service Center, located at 2963 North 23rd Street. The collection will be limited to the first 350 households. This collection is for residential only; business waste will not be accepted.

Included in the list of things that will be accepted are paints, pesticides, household and car batteries, and household cleaners.  A complete list of items that will be accepted as well as more details can be found by clicking here.

Super Bowl Party - Seniors 60 and Up

Clipart of Man Holding TV With Super Bowl on it from JupiterimagesThe Parks and Recreation Department of the City of La Porte is sponsoring the 3rd Annual Super Bowl Party on Sunday, February 3, 2013 at 5:00 pm, for all Seniors 60 and up.  The party will be at the Norman L. Malone Senior Center, 1322 S. Broadway, La Porte.  The BIG GAME will be shown on a high definition BIG screen.  Sandwiches and drinks will be served and you can bring any snacks that you like.  The City of La Porte website reports: “The first two years were GREAT and this year’s Super Bowl Party stands to be even better!!”  For more information, please call 281-470-9897 or come by the senior center between 7 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday.

Help Your Preschooler Make This Penguin
