He wrote and illustrated such books as the trilogy Where the Wild Things Are (1963), In the Night Kitchen (1970), and Outside Over There (1981); The Sign on Rosie’s Door (1960); Higglety Pigglety Pop! (1967) and his latest Bumble-ardy (2011).  Sendak also was an illustrator for numerous children’s authors, such as Else Holmelund Minarik and Ruth Krauss. His stories and drawings have thrilled a generation of young readers born in the 1960s, 70s, and 80s who are now sharing their love of these classics with the children in their lives.
