Santa is coming to the library on 11/6/09 and 11/7/09.   He'll be reading stories, and you can bring your camera to take your own personal Santa pic. On Friday, 11/6/09, he'll be here from 1pm to 3:30 pm and on Saturday 11/7/09 he'll be here from 10 am - 1 pm. So pack up the kids and we'll see you here!!

Calling all Humble pet owners!!! There will be a free microchip program at the Humble Civic Center Arena on Sunday, October 11, 2009.  A local women's generous bequest allows the City of Humble to offer this program at the Home for the Holidays Pet Adopt-a-thon.  The chips are free for Humble residents who bring a pet and identification to prove their residencey in Humble proper. Non- Humble residents in surrounding communities are also invited and can get their pets chipped for just $10. On Saturday, September 26, 2009, the Friends of the Octavia Fields Library are happy to sponsor a pre-market sale and signing of the book, The Best for Last : One Woman's Unusual Tale of Life and Love by Paulette Meeks, a local author.  Ms. Meeks was a teacher for over 43 years, and also served for 28 years as a Daughter of Charity, doing missionary work. Her last 4 years of teaching were at Lakeland Elementary School  in Humble.  The sale and signing will be from 3 - 4 pm, in the main library.
