Cows at the library?

The cows has re-scheduled her visit to the library.  The farmer was not able to present our first program to happen as scheduled so we invited the cows back for another visit.

Come see our favorite cow from SW Dairy on July 20, 2010.  At 11 am we will be looking for Little Boy Blue and our cows in the meadow.  Let us hope everyone is not fast asleep under the haystack.  So come see the cow and learn how we get milk to send to the dairy.  Do you think this is where the chocolate milk comes from?  The farmer will tell us all about it.  This may be as close as you can get to a cow.  Bring your summer reading slips and complete your first steps in the reading program.  See you here at the Baldwin Boettcher Library.

S.I.D. Camp is a success.

Baldwin Boettcher had a successful showing at our S.I.D. Camp.  We used our Science to Investigate, Explore and Discover.  Twenty children who were 4 and 5 years old came to the library to help Ms Nancy and Ms Bonnie with our science camp.  We used our sense of smell to help us discover different smells.  Next the wind came to the library so we could determine what the wind means to me.  Finally on the last day of camp we explored our investigation tool, the magnifying glass.  With our magnifying glass we investigated bugs, ears and our hands.  The children discovered that the magnifying glass makes things bigger.

Summer Reading Program, Sid the Science Kid

The Baldwin Boettcher Branch Library is bringing "Sid the Science Kid" to our summer reading program.  Look for our summer reading program for details of what day, time and how to sign up for this program.  Class space is limited.  We will conduct a pilot 3 day Sid Camp (Science Investigate Discover).  It will be held in June for three days and will only allow 4 and 5 year olds into the program.  No moms.

Preschool Story Time

Pre-school Story time at Baldwin Boettcher is one of our newer story times.  We had our Family story time but due to staffing and time; four, five and six year olds have never had their own story time.  However, they now are able to come to the library on Tuesdays at 11 am.   This is the time to bring the children who need to develop skills for school.  They will experience cutting, coloring, pasting, glueing and reading in a group.  Sometimes, the children even get to paint.  So, yes, we get messy and experience new things.  Come join Ms Nancy and her regulars at story time to get ready for school or just to have some good old fashion fun.

It's Toddler Time!

Thursday mornings, 10:30 am, at the Baldwin Boettcher Branch Library, in the Study/Meeting room you will find our adventurous Ms Nancy and her group of toddlers.  This high energy group loves to sing, mimic finger plays, dance, and listen to books.  Sometimes the wheels on the bus may change subjects according the topic of Ms Nancy's story time.  A cow bell may clang, the tail may swish, the eyes go blink and finally the voice of the cow says moo.  The familiar tune with different words allows the children to pick up the words to add to their vocabulary at a faster pace.  Please come join us and enjoy story time while picking up tips on early literacy from Ms Nancy.
