SUMMER READING KICKS OFF WITH A BANG

Abubakr African Drummming and Story Telling helped to kick-off the 2010 Summer Reading Program here at Octaviia Fields Library.  Abubakr Kouyate is a djembe master performer and teacher.  During the program, Abubakr taught the children authentic West African rhythms.  Then, he asked for volunteers to come try their hand at playing the West African djembe drums.  The children and parents enjoyed  participating and playing their own rhythms on the drums.
