Faithful Paws @ North Channel

Faithful Paws Hey kids, did you miss Faithful Paws this Saturday?  Don't worry!  Our furry friends will return to North Channel Library on Saturday, May 17th from 3-4 pm.  Be sure to visit these doggy pals.  They are ready to listen and give lots of encouragement to emerging readers!

Make Spring Holiday Cards @ Scrapbooking This Month

easter cardThis month’s scrapbooking class will have an extra element of fun—card crafts!  Kids and adults can come and create Easter & Mother’s Day cards.  Join us this Saturday, April 19th from 10 am to 1 pm in our meeting room.  Don’t forget to bring your photos if you would like to work on a scrapbook page.  See you there!

Bouncy Bunny Books

While I anxiously await my yearly delivery of sugary treats, my thoughts hop over to bunnies.  I do love a good bunny book. You may know the rabbits from Goodnight Moon, Peter Rabbit and the Velveteen Rabbit, but here are some of my other favorite (non-chocolate) bunnies:

"Ask A Lawyer" @ North Channel Library

Our popular "Ask A Lawyer" program will be held this Saturday, April 12th from 11 am - 12:30 pm in our Meeting Room.  This free legal clinic is presented by Angela D. Johnson, Attorney at Law.  Ms. Johnson will be answering legal questions and addressing issues that are important to the community.  Please join us for a chance for some free legal guidance.

Well, it looks like it is finally Spring with no more cold snaps headed our way. Warm up after our cold (for Houston) winter with some of these springtime tales.

Friends Book Sale This Weekend

readingHelp the library raise money and stock your bookshelves at the same time!  The Friends of the North Channel Library will be holding their monthly Book Sale this Friday, April 4th and Saturday, April 5th during the library's open hours.  The Friends group has all types of books and movies for sale.  All proceeds from the sale go directly to the North Channel Library to fund various library needs, such as summer performers, books and other items.  Don't miss our book sale this weekend!

Board Game Day

Monopoly Start off the week with some gaming fun! Join us for Board Game Day at North Channel Library on Monday, March 24th at 4:30pm. We'll set out a variety of traditional board games for you to play or bring your own! Music and refreshments too!

Train To Become An ESL Tutor @ North Channel Library

tutorHave you ever thought about becoming an ESL Tutor?  The North Channel Library will host an ESL Tutor Training on Saturday, March 29th from 10am to 3:30pm.  You can volunteer to tutor at any branch library and all materials are provided.  Please register for this training by calling the library at 281-457-1631 and help someone reach their goals.

The Real Pot O' Gold

 jamie o'rourke and the big potatoWe’re getting ready to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day by getting the green out and baking some yummy Irish Soda Bread.  But the best way to prepare for St. Patrick’s Day is to search for Ireland’s real pot o’ gold-its stories.  The Irish love to spin a yarn or two, so come take a look through some of these treasures.
