Tax assistance on its way

Does the thought of preparing your taxes leave you quaking in your boots?  Does the thought of filling out form after form make your mouth run dry?  Have no fear, tax assistance is here!  The wonderful volunteers from AARP will be visiting the North Channel Library again this year to help you fill out your tax forms.  Beginning February 4th, these brave souls will be available from noon to 4 pm every Thursday up to and including April 15th.    Please keep in mind that the volunteers are only able to see about 20-30 customers per day, so registration is required.  Sign up is only available on tax assistance days beginning when the library opens at 10 am and you must sign up in person.    Also, please remember to bring all of your documents with you.  It is especially helpful if you are able to

It's that time of year again-tax season.  The North Channel Library has many of the tax forms you will need to file your taxes.  Look for them in the library's lobby.  If you need assistance locating a tax form, please let us know!

It's Time for Cards and Coffee

Back by popular demand, North Channel Library will host another session of Cards and Coffee on Friday, January 15th at 1 pm.  Come in out of the cold to play cards and dominoes and enjoy tasty treats.  We hope you'll join us!

Reading celebration at the library

Nu-Way Better Living and Best Buy are teaming up to present a fun reading program for children at the North Channel Branch Library on Saturday, December 12 from noon to 4 pm. Reading time will be presented from noon to 3 pm in the library. Beginning at 3 pm, all children who participate in reading time are invited to a reading celebration including face painting, snacks and other treats! For more information, please call 832-889-0742.

Fun at Cards and Coffee

Thanks to all of our attendees to our first Cards and Coffee program.  Everyone enjoyed munching on some tasty treats while playing games of dominos, cards, and checkers.  There will be another Cards and Coffee program at the North Channel Library in January, so be sure to keep checking for our next date!  We hope to see you there!

How your child learns-Para Los Ninos

Our next Toddler Time and Preschool Storytime will feature a new installment of our Para Los Ninos program-How Your Child Learns.   Join us as we read stories and do activities, such as collages and creating a life-cycle wheel, that highlight ways you can encourage your child's natural love of learning. This one-on-one program is recommended for children ages 0-7 and their parents or caregivers.  Be sure to join us on Tuesday, November 23rd at 10:30 am and 1:30 pm to take part in this fun and interactive program.

Join us for Cards and Coffee!

Looking for a place to play some games and meet new people? The North Channel Library will host a Cards and Coffee program for adults and seniors on Friday, November 20 from 1 pm to 3 pm. The library will provide the cards, coffee and treats. You provide the fun!

Learn how to write a business plan

The North Channel Branch Library and the San Jacinto College Small Business Development Center will present a “Business Plan Workshop” on Monday, November 9th at 6 PM.   The program is free and will teach you how to write an effective business plan. Call the library at 713-457-1631 for registration and additional information.   We hope to see you there.
