Creative Corner

I spent the Fourth of July weekend with my niece and nephew who were visiting from Colorado.  During their visit, we created several art projects together.

Below are a few of my favorite resources for exploring art with children.  Please feel free to share any art projects or books that you have found to be useful.

Ease Summer Camp Jitters with Books

Summer camp offers many fun experiences for children. However, if this is your child’s first visit away from home they may be feeling anxious. These feelings are normal.  In fact, everyone, even adults feel stress when dealing with things that are unfamiliar to them.

When children know what to expect from a situation they tend to be more confident and are willing to try new things.  One great way to help ease your child’s fears is to simply talk with them and books offer a great medium for starting a conversation.

Houston Zoomobile Program

 Walk on the Wild Side

On Tuesday, June 15th the Houston ZooMobile will be presenting a program on animal movement.  Learn how different animals swing, slither, swim and slide to get what they need from their environment.
