Poetry of America

Last month was National Poetry Month, so why am I writing this blog in May?  If you had a chance to visit the Atascocita Branch you may have noticed my display of poetry books in the children's area. I am happy to report that many children and adults checked these items out. Even though April is over and gone, I am hopeful that you will continue to explore books in this area of the library.

Monday, May 31st, our country will celebrate Memorial Day. This national holiday commemorates the U.S. soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines who died while in military service.  I have chosen books about America in honor of these brave men and women.

Music Playlist for Kids

Springtime marks the beginning of weekend road trips for many of us. Here are a few Cd’s that you might want to take along for the ride.

I would love to hear about any artists that you enjoy listening to. Please post comments or suggestions at the end of this blog.

Math Storytime

Children's books provide a fun and interesting way to reinforce basic concepts. In this week's Family Storytime (Atascocita Branch) we had fun with math.  I realized that the statement, "fun with math," may seem like an oxymoron to those of you who do not like math. However, it has been my experience, that children actually enjoy math when they experience it in a fun and relaxing atmosphere.

All Ages Welcome @ Family Storytime

Children of all ages are invited to attend Family Storytime.
