Senior Classic Movie Morning

This summer the Barbara Bush Branch Library will have offer Senior Classic Movie Mornings twice a month.  June will be Lucille Ball month and we will show two classic movies starring Lucille Ball.

On June 7 we will show a movie from 1954 also starring Desi Arnaz, Keenan Wynn, and Marjorie Main. “Vacation in a trailer can be so funny!”
On June 21 we will show a movie from 1946 also starring Esther Williams and Van Johnson. 
“To prevent a libel case against the paper, a reporter tries to compromise the reputation of a tycoon's slandered daughter.”


Barbara Bush Library Friends Annual Meeting Monday, May 13@7:00 pm

The speaker for the Annual Meeting will be Carole Little, author of the memoir, Cutting the Strings. Little’s desire to make a difference in the world took her to a refuge camp on the Thai/Lao border where she taught and served as a missionary for more than a year. After traveling throughout Asia, she later accepted a position in Mexico to participate in a teaching exchange program. She stayed six years.

She is currently the President and CEO of Northwest Assistance Ministries.
Her book is a tale of hope, courage and perseverance and serves as a validation to all who contribute the time, talents and treasure to help others.


Bridging Cultures: Muslim Journeys

The first program in our NEH/ALA grant series entitled “Bridging Cultures: Muslim Journeys” has been set for Saturday, May 4 at 1:30 PM.

It will include a discussion of the book "Prince Among Slaves" by Terry Alford. This book is the true story of an African prince sold into slavery in the south. Portions of a documentary video providing background for the book will be shown.

This event will partner the Barbara Bush Library Afternoon Book Club with the Between the Lines Book Club, and the Baitus Samee Mosque on Spears Road.
The public is invited to attend.



Free Computer Classes at the Barbara Bush Branch Library

Dave Smith, computer instructor, will be teaching seven different computer classes at the library in April and May. The classes are Computer Basics, Introduction to the Internet, Email, MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher.
