The Katy Branch Library will celebrate Asian/Pacific Heritage Month on Saturday, May 11, 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.  Capture a glimpse of India with delicious Indian cuisine, enjoy Indian dancing, henna designing, and much more.  There will be activities for the entire family.  Namaste!

NATIONAL LEMONADE DAY

Sunday, May 5 is National Lemonade Day.  The main objective of Lemonade Day is to empower today's youth to become tomorrow's entrepreneurs.  According to the Houston Lemonade website, more than 50,000 kids participated last year.  Please support these young entrepreneurs on Sunday by making purchases at their lemonade stands.  More information at http://houston.lemonadeday.org/.

OPERA @ THE LIBRARY

  The Houston Grand Opera to Go will present Daniel and the Dreamcatcher at the Katy Branch  Library on Monday, April 8 at 4:00 p.m.  Opera to Go is a wonderful way to introduce your children to the joy of a musical story.  In this story, Daniel is afraid of the monster in his closet who likes to shrink things. But when the monster shrinks his family, Daniel has to decide to be brave and confront his fears.  

BREAKFAST WITH THE EASTER BUNNY

The Easter Bunny will be in Katy on Saturday, March 23, 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Harvest Plaza in Downtown Katy, 3701 3rd Street.  Easter fun for the whole family, including pictures with the Easter Bunny ($5.00).  For more information contact the City of Katy Parks and Recreation Department at 281-391-4840.

UPGRADES TO KATY DOG PARK

The popular Katy Dog Park is temporarily closed for renovations and updates, which will include reconstruction of the pond.  Plans are for the park to be open by March 27 for the annual Paws in the Park event.  The Katy Library shares a parking lot with the park, and the library has a nice view of the park from the back windows.
