KATY RICE HARVEST FESTIVAL

The weather is cooler and should be perfect for Katy’s annual Rice Harvest Festival.  The festival is a great place for family fun with live music, craft and food booths, a carnival and more.  The event takes place Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to midnight and Sunday from noon to 6:00 p.m.  Check out the website for more information.http://www.riceharvestfestival.org/

Do you need help with your new iPad?  Would you like to discover popular apps to download?  Attend the Katy Library's iPad Basics Help Session on Saturday, October 5 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Don't forget to bring your iPad and your questions.

FIESTA HISPANA

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at the Katy Branch Library on Saturday, September 28, 1:00 p.m. Experience the Hispanic culture through dancing, music, storytelling, art, and of course, delicious food!  Ole!

FEATURED ARTIST, ANUSKA MARTINEZ

The Katy Branch Library is pleased to exhibit the art of Anuska Martinez, a local artist, and President of the National Art Honor Society at Cinco Ranch High School.  Born in Venezuela, Anuska is an admirer of Alex Grey and Salvador Dali.   An ARTreach volunteer, she enjoys photography and poetry, and has won numerous awards for her work.  Her paintings will be on view through October 11.

Three popular teen novels will soon hit the big screen.

SUPERACIÓN PERSONAL

The Katy Branch Library hosts motivational discussions in Spanish the second Wednesday of every month led by Liz Arguedas.  This month’s meeting will be held at 5:00 p.m. on September 11 in the library’s meeting room.  The topic is self esteem and self acceptance, autoestima y auto-aceptacion.

COMPUTER HELP SESSION

Frustrated with your technology skills?  Do you have specific questions about a software program or how to download an e-book?  Stop by the library on Tuesday, September 5 between 10:15 a.m. and 12:15 p.m., and have your questions answered by our Technology trainer.

ZOOM! STORYTIMES

Zoom to storytimes this week at the Katy Branch Library and hear stories about things that go. Toddlertime is on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. and is for ages 18 months to 3 years old.  Preschool storytime is on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. for ages 3 to 6. 

BECOME MORE TECH SAVVY

Need help to become more tech savvy?  Look no further than the Katy Branch Library.  Two classes will be offered this week to increase your knowledge. 
On Monday, August 19, 2:30 to 4:30, the Technology Toolbox class will discuss cloud computing, photo sharing, video streaming and more.
On Thursday, August 22, 10:15 to 12:15, a Social Networking Overview will introduce various networking sites, common features, and setting up accounts. 
 

ALOHA SUMMER READING!

Celebrate the end of summer reading with our final programs for summer.  The Katy Branch Library will say aloha to summer reading with luau parties.   Teens and tweens will celebrate on Monday, August 5 at 2:30.  The children's luau party will be on Tuesday, August 6 at 2:30.  Tickets are required for the children's party and may be picked up on Monday.  There will be food, crafts, games, and fun, so don't miss it!
