UPGRADES TO KATY DOG PARK

The popular Katy Dog Park is temporarily closed for renovations and updates, which will include reconstruction of the pond.  Plans are for the park to be open by March 27 for the annual Paws in the Park event.  The Katy Library shares a parking lot with the park, and the library has a nice view of the park from the back windows. 

TWEEN VALENTINE PROGRAM

Tweens, we’ve got a special program for you!  The Katy Branch Library will host a Valentine Program for ages 10 and up on Monday, February 11 from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.  All the supplies to make your nails a work of art, as well as make a duct tape flower pen will be provided.  Of course, we’ll also have music and snacks, so grab your friends and  join the fun!  

STORYTIMES

Now that the holidays are over and the older kids are back in school, it’s a good time to bring your young ones to storytime at the library.  At the Katy Branch, we have Baby, Toddler, and Preschool storytimes.  In all of the storytimes we use music and lots of active participation as well as our favorite picture books.  Check our calendar for days and times.   

KATY OLD FASHIONED CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL

Katy's annual celebration will be held Saturday, December 15 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on Avenue B.  Finish your Christmas shopping at the holiday booths, listen to carolers, and have some yummy snacks.  Be sure to bring the kids for the noon arrival of Snow and Santa!  Don't forget to help your neighbors by bringing your canned goods for the KCM Food Pantry. 

HO! HO! HO!

             Kick off the holiday season at the Katy Branch Library,                     Saturday,   December 1.  Have fun making crafts during the day and enjoy cookies and punch.  Santa will make a special appearance from 1:00 to 2:00, so be sure to bring your little ones and don’t forget your camera!

THANKSGIVING IS FOR GIVING THANKS

    Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on all we have that is good.  The Katy Branch Library has “I’m  Thankful For…“ coloring sheets in the Children’s area.  Children can write or draw what they’re thankful for.  The drawings are being displayed on our Bulletin Board.

TRICK OR TREAT @ THE KATY LIBRARY

The Katy Branch Library will be open from 1:00 pm TO 8:00 pm on Halloween, Wednesday, October 31.  Stop by the library for a sweet treat, check out our decorated pumpkins and say hello to Sherlock Bones.       

   

KIDS ROBOTICS ACADEMY

  The Kids Robotic Academy will come to the Katy Branch Library once again to introduce children to the amazing world of   robotics. Kids will learn the process of designing, building, and programming a robot, which will be capable of doing incredible things! Saturday, October 20, 11:00 to 12:00 p.m. Registration is required. Stop by the Reference Desk or call 281-391-3509 to register.

DON'T FORGET TO REGISTER TO VOTE!

The last day to register to vote for the November presidential election is Tuesday, October 9.  The Katy Branch Library has voter registration applications for those living in Harris County.  If you live in one of the other nearby counties, we can help you print out the application.  Applications can be found on the following website,  http://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/voter/reqvr.shtml.
