The Great AJ Delgado stopped by the Evelyn Meador Branch with his mommy, Jazmin Delgado.  Not only was he checking out the awesome library branch where his mommy works, he also picked up his stylin' "Read to Me" bib for completing the summer reading program for babies. Next time you pay us a visit, be sure to ask about the summer reading incentives offered by HCPL for all ages of readers.

Wargaming World War II

Saturday, May 10th, 11:00 a.m.

WW II

If you still enjoy the tactile pleasure of tabletop wargaming, in which you actually manipulate miniature figures across landscapes, with movements based on the roll of the dice, join Brian Weathersby on Saturday, May 10th and take part in playing out a World War II scenario.

This style of war gaming was first brought to the general public's attention by H. G. Wells over 100 years ago in his popular book Little Wars, and is still being enjoyed by adults as well as kids today, along with the more modern computer based versions.

Ron Woods paints the suits the astronauts wear to go into space. That's a rather unique specialty for an artist.  If you wonder why (like I did). here is your answer.

Zombie Game Day at the Library

Zombies Invade the Library!

zombies

The library will be hosting a Zombies! Game Day on Saturday, March 22nd at 11:00 a.m. in the Meeting Room.

Brian Weathersby, with the Houston Beer & Pretzel Wargaming Club, will be coordinating the event.

If you are part of the ever growing zombie fan base or just like a good table-top board game, you will enjoy this gathering!

This is our first time to host an event of this type, and we are hoping for a good turnout. We would like to make Gaming Day are regular occurrence at the library, and Mr. Weathersby is enthusiastic about hosting other wargames and sharing his knowledge  of this engrossing hobby..
