Seabrook Local Artist on Display

Meet Seabrook Artist Dori Nelson

Dori's work is on display in the Meeting Room of the library for the next month.  If you enjoy seeing talented local artists display their work, you do not want to miss her exhibit.  I asked Dori to tell us a little about herself and her work.

An Afternoon At the Movies

movies

The second Wednesday of each month is movie day at the Evelyn Meador Branch. The show starts at 4:00 and is always a surprise feature, so I can't give away the title for this week's film. It is guaranteed to be family friendly though!  Join Ms. Pearson in the Meeting Room and see for yourself. And you are always welcome to bring your own pillow as well!

Seabrook Oral History Project

On Tuesday, December 20th, the library will host a showing of Karen Tisdel's movie "Voices By the Bay: An Oral History of Seabrook from 1832." This project, lovingly put together by Karen over the last few years, is finally available to the public.

If you haven't seen this wonderful production yet, and you love the town you live in, you'll want to be here and bring a friend!

The showing will begin at 6:30 pm in the Meeting Room. Light refreshments will be provided.

New Landscape Art for Evelyn Meador

The Friends of the Evelyn Meador Library recently purchased these fantastic crane sculptures to add to our outdoor landscaping. We think they add a real touch of class to our already beautiful facility!

This one is in the rain garden behind the library. One person who first saw this on their cell phone thought the birds were real!

Friends of Evelyn Meador Holiday Book Sale

Books - Movies - Music!

sale

If you are an avid reader, books are always a welcome gift. And never more so than during the Holiday Season. Even with the surge in sales of Nooks and Kindle devices, many of us still love the feel and smell and tactile experience of a good book.

Having said that, I am happy to announce that after nearly a three year hiatus, the Friends of the Evelyn Meador Branch Library will once again  hold their annual Holiday Book Sale in the library. This year's sale will take place on Saturday, December 3rd from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the Meeting Room across from the Book Store.  As always, all proceeds go to the benefit of the library.

Dodos Make a Comeback in Seabrook!

The rumor that the dodo bird is extinct has been greatly exaggerated.  Take, for instance, the eight orange dodos occupying the children’s area at Evelyn Meador Library.  Never have we seen such a group of popular dodos.  Patrons of all ages like them.  Children play on them. Middle school students ride them like horses.  Adults use them as seating for browsing.  They come in really handy for those who have trouble reaching the bottom shelves.

Yippie ki-yay,  we love our dodos.  Long live the dodo bird at Evelyn Meador Library!
