Geek Out @ Your Library -- Costume Event

North Channel Branch Library is celebrating Teen Tech Week with a Geek Out Costume Event.  Join us in the meeting room on Friday, March 9, at 4 pm.   Dress in your geeky best.  Play games, help build a robot for the library and deconstruct a few computers, then stay for a geeky snack. 

 

Strings Attached Needlecraft Group

Embroidery ThreadsDo you long to knit or crochet?  Are your fingers calloused from sewing?  Come to North Channel Branch Library  and join the Strings Attached Needlecraft group.  The group meets the first Wednesday of the month from 4 until 6 pm in the meeting room.  Any type of needlecraft from embroidery to quilting, and knitting to crocheting can be discussed.  

The group  will meet March 7, at 4 pm in the North Channel Branch Library meeting room.  Come and share your latest project, tips and tricks with fellow crafters.

Kickoff Black History Month with North Channel Branch Library, Saturday, February 4th at 2 pm.   Celebrate with music!   Young Audiences will present a history of American Jazz with plenty of instruments and audience participation! Learn about Congo Square in  New Orleans and the history of musical instruments used, such as drums, triangles, and the banjo among others. 
This program will happen in the children's area.  Groups wishing to attend please call the library.

NC Needlecraft Group--Strings Attached

The North Channel needlecraft group met January 4, and decided that the name of the group should be Strings Attached.  The group includes people who knit, crochet, quilt, embroidery and do other works of needlecraft.  Members of the group are invited to bring projects they are working on or have completed, as well as share tips and tricks that they have learned.

Wii Game Day!

Wii gamersNeed a quick break now that school is back in session?  The North Channel Branch Library will host the year's first Wii Game Day on Wednesday, January 11 from 4 until 6 pm in the library meeting room.  Join your friends for some gaming and lots of laughter.

NEW! Needlecraft Group

 Have you ever heard of crewel embroidery?  Have you ever knitted your own scarf or hat? The North Channel Branch Library will be launching a new needlecraft group in January, 2012.  All needle crafters are invited, knitters, crocheters, quilters and embroiderers.  Never tried any of it?  Join us and try it out.  Share tricks, techniques with fellow needle crafters.  Try out new patterns, learn new skills, have fun meeting and talking to people with similar interests.  You can also check books on
