Game Day!

Nintendo DS Multiplayer gamingHave fun playing on the Nintendo DS or Playstation PSP with your friends at the North Channel Library "Game Day."  Teens and tweens are invited to bring their handheld game systems and games to North Channel  on Wednesday, Oct. 12.  We will meet from 4 to 6 pm in the Meeting Room for a day of multiplayer gaming.

Gulf Coast Reads-One Amazing Thing

One Amazing Thing by Chitra DivakaruniThe North Channel Book Club will host a book discussion of Chitra Divakaruni's novel, "One Amazing Thing," on Wednesday, Sept. 28, at 10 am as part of the inaugural Gulf Coast Reads program. 

Divakaruni's novel centers on nine survivors of a earthquake trapped in a tiny visa office.  With little food and less hope for escape, each person takes a turn relating "one amazing thing" from their life.  As different as each person, the stories are woven together with the struggle for survival following the earthquake.

Teen Summer Reading Program

Going Global, Staying ConnectedJoin the Texas Teen Summer Reading Program as we are “Going Global, Staying Connected.”  Participate in crafts and activities from around the world.  We will be making stops on six continents and learning about arts, crafts, food, and culture in each destination.  Teen programs will be held in the meeting room on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 until 5 pm.  On Wednesday, June 8 please join us to kick off summer with a Beatles Rock Band Wii Game Day from 4 until 6 pm. 

April - National Poetry Month

National Poetry Month

 Do you long to wax poetic?  Can you haiku? Are you a poet who just doesn't know it?

Join the North Channel Creative Writing Club as we celebrate National Poetry Month on Saturday, April 23 at 2:30 pm.  Experiment with new poetry forms and read works by authors you have not tried before.

Join the Academy of American Poets on Thursday, April 14th to celebrate Poem in your Pocket Day:  "The idea is simple: select a poem you love during National Poetry Month then carry it with you to share with co-workers, family, and friends."
