Day at the Beach

As July speeds by and temperatures continue to soar, there are quite a few things I wish I could do. Eat ice cream for every meal, go on a road trip with the windows down and the wind roaring by, run through a sprinkler, or go to the beach. On a hot summer’s day, there are very few things better than reading on the beach and riding waves back to shore.

Henna for Teens

henna hand with camelHey teens! Looking for something fun to do next week? On Tuesday we will be using henna to create temporary designs on the skin. Henna, a plant-based product made from henna tree leaves, is used by many cultures around the world as a form of artistic expression. Henna is not permanent, but it does temporarily stain the skin. Henna will wash or fade from the skin in one to three weeks.

Any teen (ages 12 to 18) who wishes to participate must have a completed parental permission form. Teens without a form can attend the program, but will not be allowed to participate. Permission forms can be obtained at the first floor Reference Desk of the Tomball Library. For more information, please call the library at 832-599-4200.

The henna program will take place in the first floor Meeting Room on Tuesday, July 20th from 3:00-4:30 pm.

Out of This World Television

adorable robot guyOne of my favorite television genres is science fiction. It’s a genre that is underappreciated by the masses, but the people who love it are often fanatical enough to make up the difference. It’s unfortunate that so many people dismiss the entire genre without even giving it a chance (it’s not all Star Trek, you know) because science fiction has so much to offer.

Just Dance for Teens

kids dancingThe Summer Reading Program is half over! Have you registered yet? If you have read anything this summer – seriously, anything at all - sign up for the Teen Summer Reading Program and log your reading activity. While you’re reading, don’t forget the weekly Tuesday activities for teens! Next Tuesday come to the library and play Just Dance for the Nintendo Wii. Bring your friends and show off your dance moves. Meet in the first floor Meeting Room on Tuesday, July 13th from 3:00-4:30 pm.
