SER-Jobs for Progress and United Way Bay Area Financial Opportunity Center are partnering to host a community job fair at the United Way Bay Area Service Center on Monday, July 30th from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.  All job seekers and employers are welcome, but an appointment is required, so please call 281-282-6064 to schedule yours.

Early Voting @ Freeman - Primary Runoff Elections

Don’t forget that early voting for the Primary Runoff Elections starts at Freeman this Monday, July 23rd at 7 a.m.  Early voting will be open in the Community Room Monday through Friday (July 23rd – July 27th) from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.   Check here for general information on early voting, and here for a list of acceptable voting credentials.  

Clear Lake Area Writers (CLAW)

Freeman Library has partnered with the Clear Lake Area Writers (CLAW), a free writers’ critique group, which meets on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of every month from 10 a.m.-12:00 noon (November and December, 2nd Saturday only). 

CLAW welcomes amateurs, hobbyists, semi-pros and pros across all genres, so if you have a piece of writing that you would like critiqued bring it in.  You can also help provide feedback to others who have brought in their own works.  CLAW also welcomes listeners, so feel free to join in even if you don’t have a piece of writing to critique. 

June Lobby Display - Howard Hughes

Check our new display in the lobby for the month of June.  A member of our local community has displayed his collection of Howard Hughes memorabilia, including some fabulous movie posters and photographs.  Don't forget to check it out on your way in or out of the library. 

 

Howard Robard Hughes, Jr. was born 24 December 1905 in Humble, TX to Howard Robard Hughes, a mining engineer and oil wildcatter, and Allene Gano, a Dallas heiress.  He spent most of his youth in Houston before attending school in both Massachusetts and California.
