Freeman Library has a new display in the lobby for the month of May, in fact, thanks to the children of the Regional Library of Pardubice in the Czech Republic and the family of astronaut Drew Feustel, we actually have TWO displays.  The majority of the display is the absolutely beautiful Belgian bobbin lace made by local artisan Keiko Toda.  Ms.

Freeman Mystery Book Club Visits with Dean James!

Asian Pacific Heritage Month: Japanese Settlers of Webster

Ever wondered how Kobayashi Road got its name?  May is Asian Pacific Heritage Month and Freeman Library is celebrating in several ways, one of which is highlighting the influence a group of Japanese settlers had on our area.  Come up to the second floor of the library to see our display and learn about the Saibaras, Kobayashis and others who came over from Japan to farm rice and other crops in the Webster area.  If you want to learn more about the subject, check out Thomas K.

Texas Association of Original Doll Artists

Freeman Library is lucky to have the Texas Association of Doll Artists (TAODA)'s Storybook Doll Exhibit on display in our lobby.  TAODA has been in existence for over 10  years, and its members have been displaying their storybook dolls in area libraries since 2001.  They have displayed both their storybook dolls and other exhibits in Houston's Heritage Society Museum, the Heritage Museum in Montgomery County, and the Houston International Quilt Festival's Storybook Exhibit just to name a few.  The dolls and the books on which they are based are both on display in our lobby.  I was excited to see one of my favorite books as a c

1040 Instructions Are Here!

If you heard a loud scream of joy coming from the library this afternoon around 2:30, now you know the reason why - our IRS 1040 All Instructions have finally arrived!  We've got some on the first floor in the rotunda area, and many more copies upstairs in the reference area.  We know you've been waiting forever, so come on over and get your copy now.  Below are our opening hours:
