Help with Income Tax Forms!

FormHelp has arrived!  Trained volunteers from AARP are now coming to the library to help people complete their 2012 federal income tax forms.  There are no age or income requirements, they can file returns electronically, and it’s FREE.  The volunteers are in the library meeting room on Saturdays, from 10 am to 2 pm, and on Mondays and Thursdays, from 1 to 5 pm.  They operate on a first-come, first-served basis, with no appointments.  Please bring all of the relevant documents with you.  [Clipart © Jupiter Images]

Tax Forms Delayed

Tax FormsThe IRS sent out an email on 1/8 that said: “The production of some 2012 major tax products, including the Form 1040 and the Instructions for Form 1040, is impacted by the recent passage of the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012.  At this time, we do not have an estimate as to when products will become available on IRS.gov or in print.”  As a result, the library has not received the 2012 tax forms and we don’t know when we will receive them.  I discovered yesterday, though, that some of the forms were posted to the IRS web site on 1/10.  So, the 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ and many other forms are available
