Yay!! Summer Vacation!!

Road tripIt’s that time again. Do you know where you want to go? Do you know what you want to see and do once you get there? As usual, the library can be a great help. There are over 300 travel books just at the Fairbanks branch, and the other branches have hundreds more that can be sent to Fairbanks for your convenience. They are from such famous travel publishers as Fodor’s, Frommer’s, Rick Steves, Mobil, and Moon Handbooks. There are tons about the U.S. and Europe, some on Canada, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean, and a few on Australia, the Middle East, and Africa. So, no matter where you want to go on vacation (or have to go on business), library books can help you figure out what to see, what to do, where to stay, where to eat, and what to buy while you’re there.

Summer Reading – It’s for Adults, Too

Reading

Lots of people know that libraries have summer reading programs for kids and teens, but did you know we have one for adults, too? Here’s what’s involved: Sign up online, read at least 4 books between June 4 and August 7, and list them in your summer reading log. That’s it! You’re automatically entered into a drawing for bookstore gift cards ranging from $50-$200 in value. Pretty sweet deal, since you love to ready anyway! [Clipart ©JupiterImages.]

Summer Volunteers

VolunteersAre you between the ages of 14 and 94? Do you need volunteer hours for an organization you belong to or for college applications? Or, do you just want to do something to help out in your community? Please consider volunteering at your neighborhood library this summer. There’s a lot to do and the staff would really appreciate your help! [Clipart ©JupiterImages.]
