Stuff That Happened to Me

The Stratford Library is hosting a book discussion on the Gulf Coast Reads selection Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer on Wednesday, October 10 at 10:00 am.  To help get into the spirit of things, the library will be displaying a scrapbook bulletin board called STUFF THAT HAPPENED TO ME.  It is a collection of moments, big or small, that happened in the lives of your neighbors, friends, and fellow patrons.  Feel free to stop by to look and even contribute if you'd like!

Where Are You Going?

To the Stratford Library for a free Google Maps computer class! This one hour class will be held Thursday, Sept 13th at 11:30 am. Learn how to map directions from one location to another, find business addresses and phone numbers, and discover all the neat tips this site has to offer.  To sign up for the class or for more information, please call (281) 426-3521 or stop by the Stratford Library information desk.  For a complete listing of programs at Stratford Library, click here.

A Big Thanks to our Summer Volunteers!

The Stratford Library would like to recognize all the volunteers that came out this summer to help make our Summer Reading Program a success!  From fundraising to cleaning to baking to heavy lifting and more, our summer wouldn't have been the same with you.  For that, the library and the community thanks you!

Meet Evelyn

Evelyn Wotipka is a Texas native, growing up in the Crosby/Highlands area.  She has 2 children, 3 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and –until recently – she also had a disdain for computers.  When Stratford began offering computer classes last fall, Evelyn was one of the first to sign up, although the staff were instructed not to let anyone one know she was willing to use one of those pesky computers.  “I don’t want anyone to know I’ve finally agreed to touch that thing.”

Summer Programs - Not Just for Kids!

Summer time at the library is jam-packed with activities and special programming, but it's not just for kids! We have some special programs lined up for adults including computer classes, guest speakers, creative writing and book clubs, and more!

Kick off the summer with us as we celebrate the beginning of Adult Summer Reading program with a party on Wed, June 6th at 1:00 pm! Bring your A-game as teams go head to head in friendly competition playing group board games, enjoy refreshments, and try your luck at winning door prizes.
