West University Book Group-July 2

the heart of the matterPlease join us to discuss The Heart of the Matter, by Graham Greene.  Wednesday July 2, at 11 a.m.

"Graham Greene's masterpiece, The Heart of the Matter, tells the story of a good man enmeshed in love, intrigue, and evil in a West African coastal town.  Originally published in 1948, The Heart of the Matter is the unforgettable portrait of one man—flawed yet heroic, destroyed and redeemed by a terrible conflict of passion and faith."  -amazon.com review

West University Book Club-April 2

somenonePlease join us to discuss Someone, by Alice McDermott.  Wednesday April 2, at 11 a.m.

“Who is going to love me?” Marie asks her older brother, Gabe, after her heart is broken. “Someone,” he replies. How humble this pronoun is, and what a provocative title it makes. Readers who love refined, unhurried, emotionally fluent fiction will rejoice at National Book Award–winner McDermott’s return. McDermott (After This, 2006) is a master of hidden intensities, intricate textures, spiked dialogue, and sparkling wit. -Donna Seaman, Booklist
