Call for Book Donations

This is a last call for book donations before our fall book sale, on Saturday November 14, 10am-2pm.  We accept books in good condition, and would love to have some more children's books for our sale.  We also take DVDs , CDs and books on cd.   Donate items to help make our book sale a success, or just stop by next Saturday and choose some books for youself and your family!

Carved Pumpkin Contest Winner at WU!

Sam & JulieJulie Tyree and Sam Horowitz are the winners of our first carved pumpkin contest at WU!  We had some beautiful entries and gave out 3 ribbons for the top entries, as well as a gift card to a book store for the 1st prize entry.  Sam and Julie carved Max on their pumpkin, from Where the Wild Things Are, by Maurice Sendak.  Happy Halloween to all!

Friends of the West U Library Booksale

Check out the book bargains at the Friends of the West University Library used Book sale on Saturday, November 14 from 10 AM to 2 PM. The sale will be held on the covered walkway surrounding West University Library at 6108 Auden Street. All proceeds benefit the programs and collections of the library. Carved Pumpkin Contest

Families are invited to enter their carved Halloween pumpkins in a contest at the Library on Monday, October 26.
Drop off your carved pumpkins between 10 and 11 am to be judged by customers during the day. Winners will be announced at 5:30 pm, during a social between 5 and 7 pm. Pumpkin refreshments and ice cream will be served. The first place winner will receive a gift card to a book store.

Historic Photos of West University on Display

Come check out reproductions of historic photograhs of West University at the library!  Thanks to a very generous donation from the West University Place Historical Society, we were able to order prints of some of the photos that the Historical Society collected over the years and display them, courtesy of the Houston Metropolitan Research Center.  The entire collection is located in the Texas Room of the Houston Public Library, and is available for research.   

This donation is in honor of Keddy Outlaw, former Branch Librarian of West University, in recognition of her support and assistance to the West University Place Historical Society. 

 

 

Hurricane Preparedness

The Office Of Homeland Security & Emergency Management will present a workshop on hurricane preparedness, on Monday, September 21st at 6:15pm.  Learn your responsibilities during a hurricane, get evacuation tips, and find out if your disaster emergency kit is adequate. 

The program will be held in the reading room of the West University Branch.
