Assignment Refinement

If you visited the Aldine Library this week, you may have noticed an increase in the number of students in the building, particularly in the afternoons and evenings. Wait times for computers have increased as well as the level of noise in the building. This is all due to end of school year assignments. Thank you for your patience during this busy time.

Real Characters

Chinese characters

In celebration of Asian Pacific Heritage Month, the Aldine library is featuring a program about Chinese characters on Saturday, May 29th at 1 PM. A native of China will be on site to show how to write words and personal names in Chinese. The program is open to all ages. Come join us!

You may not have known it, but you were being counted at the Aldine Library on Tuesday, May 4th, 2010, as part of Texas Library Snapshot Day.

Presented in partnership between the Texas Library Association and the Texas State Library and Archives Commission, Texas Library Snapshot Day runs April 26th through May 7th, 2010. Its purpose is to provide a way for libraries of all types across Texas to show what happens in a single day in their libraries.

The Aldine Library celebrated its 34th anniversary with cake, coffee, and camaraderie. Ms. Rhoda Goldberg, HCPL Library Directory, was on site for the festivities. Staff and patrons reminisced about days gone by while viewing photographs of past branch events. Folks also enjoyed looking through a scrapbook of library happenings that featured newspaper clippings, photographs, and fliers. The Aldine Library looks forward to serving you in the years ahead!
