AARP Tax-Aide Offers Free Tax Assistance

Beginning Friday, February 1, 2013, volunteers with AARP Tax-Aide will be offering free tax assistance Mondays and Fridays, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.  Please bring the following with you when you come:


* copy of last year’s income tax return(s);
* W-2 forms from each employer;
*unemployment compensation statements;
*SSA-1099 form if you were paid Social Security benefits;
*all 1099 forms showing interest and/or dividends and documentation showing original purchase price of sold assets;
*1099-misc. showing any miscellaneous income;
*1099-R form if you received a pension or annuity;
*all forms indicating federal income tax paid;
*dependent care provider information (name, employer, ID, Social Security number);
*all receipts or canceled checks if itemizing deductions;
*Social Security cards or other official documentation for yourself and all dependents


 

Computer Classes for February 2013

The following computer classes will be offered in February:
*Internet Basics III – presented on February 4th, 3:00 - 4:30 p.m.  
 Internet Security- presented on February 6th, 3:00 - 4:30 p.m. 
 E-mail Basics I – presented on February 25th, 3:00 – 4:30 p.m.
 E-mail Basics II – presented on February 27th, 3:00 – 4:40 p.m.

*You must have taken Internet Basics I and II.
To register for classes you may either stop by the reference desk or phone the library at 281-484-2036 and one of the librarians will sign you up for the classes.

Computer Classes

The following computer classes will be offered in December and January:

*MS PowerPoint III - presented on December 31, 3:00 - 4:30 pm.

*MS PowerPoint IV - presented on January 2, 3:00 - 4:30 pm.

Computer Basics - presented on January 14, 3:00 - 4:30 pm.

Typing tutorial - presented on January 16, 3:00 - 4:30 pm.

Internet Basics I - presented on January 28, 3:00 - 4:30 pm.

Internet Basics II - presented on January 30, 3:00 - 4:30 pm.

To register for classes you may either stop by the reference desk or phone the library at 281-484-2036 and one of the librarians will sign you up for the classes.

*These classes are not for beginners.  You must have attended MS PowerPoint I and II to attend these classes.

The following computer classes will be offered in December:
MS PowerPoint I – presented on December 10th, 3:00 - 4:30 p.m.  
MS PowerPoint II - presented on December 12th, 3:00 - 4:30 p.m. 
 

These are not classes for beginners.  Some basic computer knowledge is required.

To register for classes you may either stop by the reference desk or phone the library at 281-484-2036 and one of the librarians will sign you up for the classes.

The following computer classes will be offered in November:
*MS Excel I – presented on November 5th, 3:00 - 4:30 p.m.  
*MS Excel II - presented on November 7th, 3:00 - 4:30 p.m. 
*MS Excel III – presented on November 19th, 3:00 – 4:30 p.m.
*MS Excel IV – presented on November 22nd, 3:00 – 4:40 p.m.

*Your library has now upgraded to this new version of MS Excel and here are the first classes.  This is a four-day class.  You must attend Part I in order to register for Part II, III, IV respectively.
