Book Sale

New Year, New Location!

The Friends of the Parker Williams Library will have their first book sale this year on Saturday, January 29th, from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.  Since space was limited at the library, the book sale will be in a new location, by the County Clerk's office.  All you have to do is go across the parking lot, through the entrance door at the County Clerk's office, and proceed to Room 110-D.  There will be plenty of signs leading you to the new location.

ESL Tutors Needed

Are you interested in helping someone learn to speak, read and write English?  If so, we could use your help.  No prior teaching experience is necessary.  All you need to do is register for the training session offered on Saturday, October 23, from 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.   Lunch will be provided.  For more information, phone the library at 281-484-2036 and ask to speak with a librarian.

The Family Tree

Have you just discovered an interest in family genealogy and don't know where to start?  If so, come to a meeting of the Parker Williams Library Genealogy Group.  Meetings are held twice a month at 2:00 p.m. in the library's meeting room.   Bring whatever information and questions you have and this group will be more than happy to discuss the best way for you to begin your search.

Book Sale

The Friends of the Parker Williams Library will be having their monthly book sale on Saturday, September 25, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Come and find some great deals on hardback books, paperbacks, books for children, CDs, DVDs, and magazines.

What's Cooking?

Cookbooks are very popular items.  Not surprising, considering the numerous shows on television such as the Food Network, American's Test Kitchen, Iron Chef, Yan Can Cook,  Paula Deen, Rachel Ray, Barefoot Contessa, etc., etc., etc.   My personal favorite is America's Test Kitchen, the televison show and the cookbooks.  Check out our special display of cookbooks and see if you get a little more excited about being in the kitchen.

And the Winner is?

Charlotte Bulcken won the $50.00 Amazon.com gift card at Parker Williams Branch for her participation in the 2010 Adult Summer Reading Program, ReaderNation.  Charlotte said it was her daughter, an avid reader, who told her to register.

When asked what she will do with the card, Charlotte stated "Since I don't know anything about computers, I'm going to get one of the kids to help me find out what's available (on Amazon.com).  Then I'll get something for myself or a gift for somebody else."
