Hey kids, come celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with us and create a mini-sombrero magnet to put on your refrigerator. The fun begins Wednesday, October 1 at 3:15 pm. All materials are provided and funded by the Friends of La Porte Library.

Hispanic Heritage Month Movie

Join us Thursday, September 25 at 6:00 pm for a movie night in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. We are presenting a movie that takes a look at how Latinos helped to shape American baseball. Suitable for all ages.

Happy Birthday La Porte Community Library !!

The Storytime children made birthday cakes to decorate and celebrate 13 years of service at the La Porte Community Library. We opened the new library to the public on September 20, 2001. The bulletin board also wishes a happy birthday to our zany Children's Librarian Mr. D. May we have many more years of great library times here in La Porte!

Puppetry Workshop

We have begun the fall Puppetry Workshop for 4th Grades and up. Come and learn the basics of puppetry. The participants will put together a show to present during the holiday season. No registration necessary. The Workshop meets Thursdays at 4:00 pm for 45 to 60 minutes.

Would you like to know more about how to find and download ebooks? We have just the class for you!  Register for the Free Ebook class. It will be held Thursday, September 11 from 10:30 - 12:30. We will cover the basics for several different devices.

La Porte High School 50 Years Ago

In preparing a La Porte Back to School Display, we ran across the 1964-65 yearbook with this aerial view of  La Porte High School and surrounding area. There have been many changes in the last 50 years. In the upper right you can just see the block where this library now resides. Come in any time and browse the La Porte High School yearbooks.

Summer Program Gummy Raffle Winners Announced

All children and teens who attended any of the Summer Reading crafts or programs entered their names in the raffle for the World's Largest Gummy Worm and the World's Largest

Digital Photo Computer Class

Have a digital camera? Bring it with you* and we'll learn tips about online photo printing. We will also have tips for the everyday point and shoot amateur. The class will be held Thursday, August 28 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm.  Register online or call the library to sign up. *Digital camera is not  required to attend the class.

End of Summer Party

Join us Thursday, August 7 at 2:00 pm for our fabulous End of Summer Party. Entertainment will be provided by Incredible Events. This program is for all ages. Summer Reading Certificates will be handed out and  refreshments will be offered. This event and refreshments are funded by the Friends of La Porte Library. 

Snakes in the Library

A live snake program will be presented by Thomas "The Snakeman" Davis of Barmolly's Place. Come learn more about our reptilian friends Thursday, July 31 at 2:00 pm.  This program is recommended for children 6 and older and has been funded by the Friends of the La Porte Library. Sorry we cannot accommodate day care groups.
