LA PORTE FILM COMMITTEE POSTS SRP VIDEO

If you want to see an example of the talent of our La Porte Film Committee, take a look at their Summer Reading Video which is posted on this youtube link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NY6V1Y6wh0Q . For the past 6 years a small group of dedicated young people have assisted our children's librarians with the creation and filming of a short video to promote the Summer Reading Program. Each of the 26 branches receive a copy to use as the librarians make school visits. Our Friends of La Porte Library have graciously provided the funding for cameras, sound equipment and costuming. We at La Porte Community Library are very proud of our talented children and librarians.

TEXAS LIBRARY SNAPSHOT DAY

Tuesday, April 27 we will be celebrating Texas Library Snapshot Day at La Porte Community Library. All over Texas libraries are asked to devote one day during the week of April 26- May 7 to compiling statistics on how their communities use their libraries. We have chosen this Tuesday. We will be logging how many people come through our doors, how many programs we hold and their attendance numbers, how busy our computers are and a host of other kinds of information.

So drop by and help us show how integral your library is to you.

Check it out and I guarantee that you will be mesmerized by this close-up view of one of nature's tiny treasures. While you are enjoying the website, you should check out these books which will answer your questions about hummingbirds: A Field Guide to Hummingbirds of North America by Sheri L.
