Have you ever gotten home without your school password to get on the databases at school for your homework? This happened to one of the students I know. HCPL came to the rescue because she was able to log on with her library card to use the World Book Student edition from our website That's what I call "homework rescue!"

After 63 years in business, The Bayshore Sun published its final edition October 6, 2010. The hometown newspaper has been important in keeping La Porte informed as well as providing a resource of local history. The La Porte Community Library Friends group has funded the conversion of the print version to microfilm for many years. Many La Portians enjoy looking up the accounts of their high school football games and Sylvan Beach pageants.

Bayshore Sun you will be sorely missed. Thanks for giving us a record of our life here in La Porte for 63 years.

Have you ever gotten to the library to use a computer and you find all of them are in use? What to do? We have the answer with our Pharos Booking Station. Input your library card and PIN number or a one-time pass and you will be put in a queue for the next available computer. The wait time will be displayed. When your turn arrives you will be assigned a particular numbered computer that only you can log onto. Try it out.
