Book Sale Saturday!

Yea!  It's time again for the Friends of the Maud Marks Library's book sale.  This Saturday check out all our gently used books that are selling for rock bottom prices.  We have thousands of books or sale and our prices beat anything you'll find at Half Price books.  Best of all, the money stays right here to support our library.

If you look around the library you will notice the felt wall in the children's section, the technology tables in the adult section, and the displays everywhere.  These things and so much much more were donated by the Friends.  But they can't do it alone.  They need your support through their book sales and other fundraising opportunities to help povide for our library community's needs.

If you really want to help out, become a Friend!  You can find out how by speaking to a librarian or a Friend when ou come for the book sale.

Looking for English Classes?

It doesn't happen often, but the Maud Marks Library has some openings in our ESL program.  Just come in and speak with a librarian.  We will ask you to fill out a short application and take a quick test so we can figure out your level.  Then, we will match you with one of the classes with openings.  Just make sure you answer all the questions on the application as thoroughly as possible.

Hurry in!  We have new classes starting soon!

Teen Tech Week

This week Maud Marks celebrated our first Teen Tech Week.  Local teens and tweens came by the library on Wednesday and Thursday this week to learn coding.  They were able to program their very own computer games with the help of our new Young Adult Librarian, Ms. Lauren.  At the end, they were even able to play the very games they created.

Missed all the fun?  Don't worry we have more fun activities for the teen and tween age group coming up.  This next Thursday, after school, we will be hosting a Divergent party to celebrate the release of the upcoming movie.  And every Thursday at the same time we will be having various other activities such as movies, game days, or crafts.  Come join Ms. Lauren for all the fun!  Check out our calendar for what will be happening each week.

Live a Healthy Life

With all the health and nutrition information out there, it can be confusing to figure out how to choose a balanced, healthy diet.  Why, just this week I read 2 articles (both dated this week) about eggs.  One article told me eggs were not as healthy as the Egg Council claims.  Another article told me that eggs were not as unhealthy as previously thought.  What are we supposed to think?

Well, at the Maud Marks Library, we want to help!  Next Saturday, March 8 at 2 PM, Jan Flewelling, a nurse with Houston Methodist will be here to help straighten out all that information.  She'll be discussing a holistic approach to healthy living including eating right, exercising, and other aspects of living your best life.

Pre-registration is required so click here to let us know if you will be joining us.
