Oscar Mayer Wienermobile stops at Freeman Library on Tuesday, April 23 @ 10:00 am

      Hot diggity dog!...the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile visits Freeman Library on Tuesday, April 23 from 10:00 am-12:00 pm.  This colorful and tasty vehicle will be on the Diana Lane side of the building for kids of all ages to enjoy. 

For toddlers, we'll have our regular storytimes at 10:15 and 11:15 am.  The storytimes will be brief and feature a hot dog theme.  Then we'll go out to check out the wienermobile.  Tickets are required for the storytimes.  They are free and available from the Kids Information Desk right when we open at 10:00 am for the 10:15 storytime and at 10:45 am for the 11:15 storytime.

Join us for a special Curious George Storytime on Thursday, April 18 at 1:30 pm

       Join us Thursday, April 18 at 1:30 pm for a special storytime featuring the adventures of Curious George.  We will have a story, a coloring sheet and a viewing of a Curious George DVD. 

This program is designed for children ages 3-5 years old and their caregivers.  Tickets are required.  They are free and available at the Kids Information Desk when we open at 1:00 pm on Thursday.

Fire Truck Visits Freeman on Friday, April 12 @ 10:00 am

      Kids of all ages are invited to see firefighters and a fire engine from the Houston Fire Department's Station No.  72 on Friday, April 12 at 10:00 am.   The firefighters will show off the fire truck and let children see how it works.

No tickets are required for this program.  The fire truck and firefighters will be on the Diana Lane side of the library.

To learn a bit more about fire safety, step inside the library into the Children's Department.  We have a display of books about firefighters.  Also, the firefighters from Station No. 72 have brought a fun display of fire trucks and firefighter equipment that we have put up behind the Kids Information Desk.  Please stop by and take a look at it.

Fire Truck is coming to Freeman Library on Friday, April 12

      A fire truck with the Houston Fire Department's Station No. 72 will be at  Freeman on Friday, April 12 at 10:00 am.  Firefighters will talk about fire safety and show the fire truck to children and their families.

  To learn more about fire safety, children are encouraged to visit the Children's Department where we have a display of books on the topic.  We also have a fun display of items from Fire Station No. 72's collection: toy fire trucks and fire equipment such as boots and a fire hose.

No tickets are needed for this program.  The fire truck will be on the Diana Lane side of the building.

April Events in the Children's Department

         This is no April Fool's joke...join us for some fun children's programs this month.  We will have afterschool programs on several Monday afternoons at 4:30 pm.  On Monday, April 8, children ages 5-11 are invited to try out our new Legos.  We'll have these colorful plastic bricks in the Children's Activity Space for children to create their own masterpieces.   Due to limited quantities, these Legos cannot be taken home.  Parents are encouraged to bring a camera to take a picture of their child's creation.  On Monday, April 15, Bricks4Kids will be here for a program on creating Solar Panels.  This program is designed for children 5-11 years old.  On Monday, April 22, children can celebrate Earth Day by making recycled crafts.&nb
