Volun-TEENS

Teen With Books

Teens, sadly school is back in session. You probably find yourself busy with your lessons and clubs. Your school may require you to do some volunteer work in your community as well. The Aldine Branch Library at the moment is looking for a few teen volunteers. It can be a wonderful opportunity for those who are hard workers and love to give back to the community. Volunteering at the library also looks great on résumés and applications, so think about it and let us know. Don’t think too long though because we can only accommodate so many. Space is limited.

Web 2.Yo! Gets Animated

Teens, do you like cartoons? Did you know that you can make cartoons on the Internet and it's free. You don't even have to be able to draw. You just need an imagination? I even made one, watch.

Though Summer Ends the Fun Doesn't at Aldine

Web 2.Yo! Gets a New Time

Now that SRP is over Web 2.Yo! has moved to a different day and time. We will now meet on Wednesdays (4PM-5:30PM). Teens, it is a great chance to learn about so many cool Web sites, so stop on by.

No Paint, No Problem!

There’s one more Web 2.Yo! class left for the teens this summer. It’s been a blast. Checkout the painting I made with one of the many cool Web sites we’ve explored. It is a site where you can paint in the style of Jackson Pollock.

Domino’s Pizza will be coming to answer your questions and let you experience what it is like to work with pizza dough. Plus, everyone will get some tasty samples. Don’t worry you don’t have to make your own samples. Those will be made by professionals. Yum! A class for teens will be held at 1pm. Kids, we will have a session for you at 3pm. The Library is a Magical Place

Our young customers had a wonderful time during a visit from magician, Julian Franklin, last Friday. Not only did Mr. Franklin perform some amazing card tricks he also shared the secrets of pulling some of them off on others. After some practice the students were able to perform some magic of their own. Everyone was so excited that they checked out all of the branch’s magic books immediately after the program. Now that’s a disappearing act we like to see.Kids With Playing Cards

Aldine Discovers the Deep Sea

Boy in Deep Sea Diving GearThe Aldine Branch customers had a wonderful time as they visited with experienced diver and author, Jacqui Stanley. Mrs. Stanley covered a number of topics including what is needed to become a marine biologist, the current oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, and the equipment needed for deep sea exploration. She even brought her own diving equipment to share. Students also had a chance to experience what they would look like in some of that expensive gear!
