The AMNH is Looking for Young Naturalists

Students, are you interested in nature? If so, then the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) is holding a competition for students in grades 7-12 that could be for you. Students can now submit scientific inquiries for consideration for the Young Naturalist Awards 2010. Winners receive cash awards, an expense-paid trip to the AMNH in New York City, and publication of essay.

The deadline for research essays is March 1, 2010. Don’t hesitate to ask the Aldine Branch Library if you have any questions. Plus, we can help you look for any other competitions that may fit your interests.

Aldine Joins VEAC

The Aldine Branch Library was selected by Aldine Senior High School to serve on the school district’s Vertical Educational Advisory Committee (VEAC). The committee consists of parents, local businesses, and other community representatives. The group will meet monthly to discuss issues and provide feedback to the superintendent. Branch librarian, Clara Maynard, will represent the library. The Aldine Branch is proud to serve on such a committee.
