Asian Pacific Heritage Festival Reminder

Hi everyone! I wanted to remind you not to miss our annual Asian Pacific Heritage Festival this Saturday, May 11 from 1-4pm at the Maud Marks Branch.  Make Mom a lei for Mother’s Day, sample a variety of Asian cuisine, enjoy an origami demonstration, and more!  This free event is fun for the whole family so come on over!

Dogs Dogs Dogs!

Do you love to pamper your pets?  Be sure to check out the Doggy Party on the Plaza tomorrow, April 6, from noon to 5 at City Center Houston!  There's a parade, costume contest, and more.  Be sure to stop by the Maud Marks Library anytime if you're looking for books on everything from dog care to picking out the perfect pooch. The 636 section in nonfiction has all sorts of great dog books for adults and kids.

Tax Assistance Still Available

The AARP offers free tax assistance at the Maud Marks Library on Mondays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and on Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  They will not be here on Friday, March 29 because the library is closed for Good Friday, but they will return the following Monday, April 1.  If you aren’t able to come on Mondays or Fridays here is a list of places nearby where you can get help.  Be sure to bring all of your paperwork and Social Security cards for everyone listed on your return.
