Calling All Teens!

Looking for something new to do?  We have three programs for teens this week at Maud Marks.  On Wednesday, February 6 at 4pm is volunteer orientation for high school students interested in volunteering at the library.  On Thursday from 2:45-4pm is our weekly Teen Time program for junior high students where you can hang out and play games.  Last but not least is the Mock SAT on Saturday, February 9 at 10:15am.  Sign up and take a full-length practice test before you take the real thing!  Be sure to bring #2 pencils, a calculator, and a snack.

Interested in Volunteering?

Are you a high school student who needs volunteer hours?  Our next volunteer orientation at the Maud Marks Branch Library is on Wednesday, February 6 at 4pm.  Turn in your application now and we'll have schedules there.  Remember that orientation is mandatory if you haven't volunteered at Maud Marks before.

Want to Get Involved in the Community? Join the Friends of the Maud Marks Library!

The Friends of the Maud Marks Library are having their open meeting this Monday, January 15 at 9:30 am (don't worry, we’ll open the front door even though the library is closed).  Come and meet other community-minded folks and help with activities at the library!   For example, you might like to help set up for the Friends Book Sales.  Proceeds benefit the Library and are used to purchase materials and pay for programs like the annual Summer Reading Program.

We'll see you there!

Happy (almost) New Year!

Even though schools are closed remember that the library is open!  Here at the Maud Marks Branch the only difference in our regular hours is that we close at 5 pm on Monday, December 31 and are closed on New Year's Day.  There are no programs when we're closed but we have plenty going on for the next couple of weeks including family movies at 2 pm on weekdays through Jan 7 and story times for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers.  You don't have to have a library card to attend programs or visit the library so feel free to bring your guests too!  Don't forget that we also have a variety of eBooks and eAudio materials that you can check out whether we're open or not; all you need is a library card.

E-Gifts for the Holidays

Want to check out a variety of e-readers without the sales pressure?  Sign up for the e-gifts program this Saturday, December 15 at 10am at the Maud Marks Branch Library.  You’ll get to try a variety of e-readers and learn more about borrowing materials from the Harris County Public Library eBranch.  Seating for this program is extremely limited so sign up today!
