Bridge Over Troubled Water Presents: "Telling Amy's Story"

Celebration of Chinese New Year

The celebration of Chinese New Year begins today, January 29th, and ends February 20th.  San Francisco, CA has the largest Chinese community and celebrates each lunar new year with a festival and parade.  The celebration began in the 1860's as a way to educate the community about the Chinese culture.  Each year, hundreds of thousands of people come out to celebrate the festival and parade.  For more information go to www.chineseparade.com.

Christmas Open House

We're having our Christmas Open House tomorrow night, Dec. 2nd, at 6:30 PM.  Jacinto City Mayor with Christopher Diaz will be us for a special Christmas Storytime.  Everyone is invited to come and share the evening with us.  You never know, Santa may make a guest appearance!

Lead Poisoning Prevention Exhibit

In honor of Lead Poisoning Prevention Month, the Jacinto City Branch Library is hosting the Lead Poisoning Prevention Exhibit.  It is from the Harris County Public Health and Environmental Services (HCPHES).  The purpose of the exhibit is to help children and families become more aware of lead poisoning and how it can be prevented.  For further information to: www.hcphes.org/eph/lead.htm or call 713-439-6369

It's the end of the Summer Reading Programs.  I'd like to send a big "Thank You" to all of you Adult Summer Reading Program participants.  Jacinto City beat its records for the past 2 summers!  Thank you again for signing up and turning in your titles. 

Reader Nation--Adult Summer Reading Program

It's July and we're into the 2nd month of the Summer Reading Programs.  Adults, have you signed up for the Adult Summer Reading Program?  Yes, we have a reading program for you!  Come in and sign up today!  Read 4 books or listen to 4 books and log the titles online for your chance to win prizes.  The branch prize is a $50 bookstore gift card that you could win in a random drawing.  The last day to log titles in August 14th.

Summer Reading Program Puppet Show!

Come one, come all!  It's our 2010 Summer Reading Program Puppet Show!  Thursday, June 24th at 2:30 PM in our Children's Area.  Miss Linda and fellow librarians will be singing songs, doing skits, and doing a puppet show.  So don't forget to stop by and join in on the fun!
