Before you buy that Kindle, Nook or iPad

Planning to take advantage of the great after -Thanksgiving sales?  Free eBooks , eAudios and eVideos are available from the library to go with all these devices.  Yes, I did say “free. ”   Like any other library item, you can borrow these from the library.  They return themselves at the end of your loan period and you NEVER get an overdue fine.

If you are considering purchasing one of these devices (or a similar, less expensive brand) make sure you check out our digital catalog.  To make sure that bargain is a real library bargain check out our list of  compatible & incompatible  devices to be sure your reader or player will work with the library collection.

Decoupage Art Program

Decoupage the Easy WayThis month’s Family Art program features decoupage art boxes.  You and your family can learn to make these unique boxes for free and for fun!   Every family will leave with at least one decorated box.  The Friends of Maud Marks Library are providing all supplies.  All  you need to do is join us on Friday, September 30th at 1:15 in the meeting room .   Since KISD schools have early release that afternoon this is an ideal activity for family or friends!

And the Runner Up is...

If you liked this year’s Gulf Coast Reads selection (One Amazing Thing) you should consider reading the runner up book, Zeitoun by Dave Eggers .  This New York Times bestselling title is also a 2010 American Book Award winner and the choice for this month's Evening Book Club discussion.
