Have Book-Will Travel: International Exploration Series - Japan

On Monday, June 3rd at 2:00 pm the Barbara Bush Branch Library will host the first installment of its International Exploration series. Come and hear Japan-America Society of Houston representative, Taka Tsuruta, as he takes you on a journey to Japan without ever having to leave your seat.

  

 

Spotlight on Local Authors : Peggy Boone

On May 18, Peggy Boone will be here to discuss her new book, Shadow Boxing: Siblings of the disabled.  It is based on 5 years of interviews, in-depth search of disability literature, and personal experience. She is the mother of a child with disabilities and the sister of a sibling with disabilities.


Peggy was an educator in Spring I.S.D. She and her husband have traveled extensively and live in the Spring area.
Come and learn more about how children with disabilities affect the whole family.

The program in on Saturday, May 18 from 1:00-3:00 PM in the Earl Elliott Meeting room.
 

Let's Learn More About Genealogy

On Friday, November 16 at 11:00 AM, the Barbara Bush Branch Library will present a demonstration of the Genealogy databases available through the Harris County Public Library website - www.hcpl.net.

To climb your family tree or consult the U.S. Census come and explore HeritageQuest and Ancestry.com. The class is offered once a month in the Computer Lab. Please call 281-376-4610 to register or to ask for the schedule of future classes. You can also register online the HCPL website.

Registration is required and opens 30 days before the class is presented.

 

Clues, Cake, and Coffee Mystery Book Club

              Please join us on Thursday, July 19th for our "Clues, Cake and Coffee" mystery book club. Our focus this summer is Texas mystery writers. The July selection is Feast Day of Fools by James Lee Burke.  

              The discussion will be held in the Robin Bush Activity room from 1:00-3:00 PM.

             "Sheriff Hack Holland and his deputy, Pam Tibbs, recognize the work of serial killer, Preacher Jack Collins, along the Texas-Mexico border." 

Greens Gallery Art Exhibit at the Library

The Art Exhibit for May will be furnished by Greens Gallery of Originial Art.The Artists contributing their work are Barbara Gillroy, Pedra Kuder, and Elizabeth Sapre. 

Barbara Gilroy

Barbara loves painting portraits of homes. It is her passion to capture the warmth of a family home. She paints in various
mediums and has exhibited in Galveston, Kingwood, and Spring. She also teaches watercolor classes on cruise ships.
