Blind Date with a Book

Huh?  Blind Date with a Book?  Well...yeah.  Check out our new display--Blind Date with a Book--and you will notice some of the books on the display are wrapped in reddish-colored paper with only the book's barcode showing through the paper wrapping.  There is a hint on the front about the content of the book.  So, are you willing to take a chance and check out a book and then see what it is after unwrapping it?  Then visit the library and browse the display (which also includes some books that are not wrapped and you can see the title) and take a blind date with a book.  Happy Reading!

Good Listening @ Your Library

Commuting between home and work means I spend a good deal of time in my car so I like to listen to recorded books during my drive time.  And, I like to listen to recorded books at home as well, often while taking care of chores.  Listening to a recorded book allows me the opportunity to listen to a story that I may not have time to actually sit down and read.  If you drive a lot or there are books you have been wanting to read but just do not get around to doing so, please consider  recorded book editions which you can find at your library.  The Fairbanks Branch has adult, young adult, and juvenile recorded book collections and access to recorded books at any of the Harris County Public Library branches.  Please stop by the library and browse our collections and our new display of adult recorded book titles.  Let us know what you need, and we will request items for you.  Happy Listening!
