A Harvest of Books

It's that time of the year when the weather begins to turn cooler, leaves start to turn different colors, and we start to think about the various holidays to be celebrated from now to the end of the year.  To help you find good picture books about the changing season, we have created a new display of titles to check out and share with youngsters, "A Harvest of Books."  Our selection includes books about harvesting, the Fall season, and, of course, pumpkins!  Please browse the display on your next visit to the library and I bet you will find some books to take home.  If not, please ask us and we will find what you need.  Happy Harvest Reading!

Picture Books with a Latin Flavor

Looking for some children's picture books to help celebrate Hispanic-Heritage Month?  Just come on in to the Fairbanks Branch Library and browse our latest book display, "Celebrating Hispanic-Heritage Month," and you will find some recommended stories to check out and share with children.  And, many of the books are bilingual so you can read the story in both Spanish and English.  See you soon!  and Happy Reading!

Popular Picks for Your Reading

Don't know what to read next?  Want some suggestions?  Then stop in here at the Fairbanks Branch Library and browse our Popular Picks display to find books that the library staff personally recommend for your reading pleasure.  If you don't see something on the display that catches your attention, then let us know what you like to read and we can help you find some books for your interests.  We love to talk about books, so please ask us.  Happy Reading !

Fiesta Story Time

Calling all preschoolers!  Please join us for a special Fiesta theme at our Preschool Story Time for Tuesday, September 13 at 10:30 AM in the library meeting room.  Our Fiesta Story Time will feature stories, songs, and a craft with a Hispanic flavor.  See you then and Happy Reading!

Under the Sea

The weather continues to be hot and dry here in the Houston area, so I like to think and read about places that have a lot of water and are much cooler.  Some of the staff here at the Fairbanks Branch have selected books about seas and oceans and the various creatures that live in them and placed them on display in the children's area of the library close to the entrance from the lobby.  Please browse the "Under the Sea" display on your next visit to the library and at least you can read about some places that are definitely cooler and wetter.  Stay cool and happy reading!
