Dinner & A Movie Recommendations

It's time to treat yourself to dinner and a movie...at home!  If you are like me, you watch more movies in DVD format than actually going out to the local theater.  Even watching movies at home, you can treat yourself to a nice dinner--home cooked or order in--and then settle back in a comfortable chair or on a sofa and watch a movie you have been wanting to see.  To help you make some movie selections as well as different types of food to have, we have created a new display of movies and recipe books--"Dinner & A Movie."  On your next visit to the library, please browse the display and select some movies and recipe books to take home.  Happy Reading and Happy Viewing!

Well, it's almost that time of the year when summer vacation is over and classes for the Fall semester start at the local schools.  To help younger students make the transition from summertime activities to "reading, writing, and arithmetic" we have created the "Singing the Schoolhouse Blues" display of picture books about schools, teachers, and students.  Please browse the books in the display and you should find some fun stories to read before it's "back to school!"  Happy Reading!

"The Adventures of Tom & Huck" Performance @ Your Library

The Fairbanks Branch Library is pleased to announce that Express Theatre will present a performance of "The Adventures of Tom & Huck" in the library's meeting room on Wednesday, July 6, at 3pm.  In this musical adaptation of Mark Twain's novels about boyhood friends, it would seem that some things never change.  Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn are always trying to get around the rules.  After all, no self-respecting kid can pass up a good adventure.  Follow these rascals and their friends--and foes--as they whitewash a fence, play hooky, find a cure for warts, attend their own funeral, get lost in a cave, and solve a murder mystery.  So save the date and we'll see you at the performance!

Snakes @ Your Library!

Just a reminder that the "Texas Snakes" program is scheduled for this Thursday at 11:00AM in the meeting room at the Fairbanks Branch Library.  If you want to learn more about the different types of snakes in our area and even touch and hold some snakes, then this is your chance to do so.  So save the date and we hope to see for the program.  And, Happy Reading!
