Read, White, & Blue @ Your Library

Just in time for celebrating the upcoming national holiday next Monday, we have created a display of books about our national symbols and observances.  Please take a look at the books and if you do not find what you want, just ask us at the front desk and we will interlibrary loan what you need.  Have a safe and relaxing holiday and stay cool!

Save the Date

Summer weather already is here and it is almost time for schools to close for summer vacation.  And on June 4, the Summer Reading Program officially starts at all Harris County Public Libraries and the Fairbanks Branch staff invite you to join us for our series of fun and entertaining programs planned for children, tweens, and teens at the library.  Our weekly preschool and toddler times continue, along with special programs.  Check our online branch calendar or pick up a Summer Reading Program flyer on your next visit to the library.

Heroic Reads @ Your Library

Do you like to read stories about super heroes?  The kind of heroes who fight super villains and overcome seemingly impossible odds to win the day and the save the world?  Then, we have the perfect display of books for you to browse and select some reading material--"Heroic Reads."  Be sure to take a look at the many titles on your next visit to the library.  And, if you don't find exactly what you want, please ask us.  We'll help you find it and interlibrary loan a copy for your reading pleasure.

Popular Picks @ Your Library

One of the most used book displays at the Fairbanks Branch Library is "Popular Picks" which features books that are popular with library customers and members of the library staff.  These recommended titles cover a wide range of genres from mysteries and suspense to romance and realism.  Whenever you visit the library, please be sure to see what titles are on this display and you just might see a title that catches your interest.  If there is a book that you want and we do not have it here at Fairbanks, just let us know and we will interlibrary loan a copy for you, either from within our library system, or from a library in Texas or from either of the other forty-nine states.

Go Green! @ Your Library

Hey kids!  Would you like to help save the environment?  Are you ready to Go Green! @ Your Library?  Check out our display of ecology-themed picture books here at Fairbanks Branch Library and see how some of your favorite children's stories characters are working to be kind to Planet Earth.

Princesses & Frogs

Would a princess really kiss a frog?  Some stories say Yes, and others would say No.  For some fun reading of stories about princesses and frogs, check one of our latest displays featuring picture books about princesses and also picture books about frogs.  Then you can decide for yourself if it would be worth it to kiss that frog.

How To Almost Anything Manuals @ Your Library

If you have ever wondered how to learn to do certain things--like podcasting, computers, lawn care--then checking out a good "how to" manual or handbook is just what you need.  To help you find the right handbook for what you want to learn to do, please take a look at a new book display at the library, "Handbooks for Dummies."  If you don't see what you need, then ask us and we are happy to request the right book for you.

Pirates!

Avast!  Do you like stories about pirates?  Then we have the display of books with colorful stories about pirates for you!  When you visit the library please look at our display of books about pirates which is near the front desk where you checkout and return books.  As always, if we do not have the book you need, then we can interlibrary loan the book for you.
