February Evening Storytime @ your library

The Fairbanks Branch Library family evening storytime for February is scheduled for Monday, February 22 at 7:00pm in the library's meeting room.  This month we will share stories with themes celebrating Valentine's Day and also Chinese New Year.  Since this new year is ruled by the tiger, you can expect a tiger to be in at least one of the stories.  So, put a tiger in your tank and see you on Monday the 22nd!

Save the Date - Preschool Valentine Story Time

To celebrate the Valentine holiday during February, the library will have a special Valentine's preschool story time on Tuesday, February 16.  Although this is a couple of days past the official date of February 14, we invite you to join us for some special stories and a Valentine's craft on the 16th to celebrate the special people in our lives.  So, Save the Date and we will see you then.

Black History Month Display

As the month of February approaches, it is time to celebrate Black History Month @ your library.  Beginning Monday, February 01, the Fairbanks Branch Library will have a display of books that celebrate African-American history and African-American literature.  To learn more about African-American history and culture, please visit the library and take a look at the display.  If we do not have what you need, please ask and we can use interlibrary loan to fill your requests from other libraries here and across the country.

Holiday Movies

With the observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday on Monday, January 18, the Harris County Public Library branches will be closed for that day.  In case you want to take advantage of the holiday to watch some new or favorite movies, please visit the Fairbanks branch on this Friday or Saturday and check out some of our DVD and VHS movies.  We have a sizable collection and I bet you can find some fun films to make your holiday entertaining.  Movies are just one of the many services provided @ your library.  Have a safe and relaxing holiday!

Good Reads for Brrr! Weather @ Your Library

It certainly has been a different winter season in Houston--snow in December and freezing weather this weekend.  These are times that it is good to curl up with a good book in your chair or on the sofa and let reading take you to other places in your mind--like a warm beach somewhere!  I encourage you to visit Fairbanks Branch Library and let us help you find some good books to read.  For our younger readers, we have two special displays of picture books--'Tis the Season' and 'January is Hug n' Cuddle Month'--which have books just perfect for sharing.  If we do not have the books you want, then let us interlibrary loan them for you.
