Sid the Science Kid Camp

Hey, Scientists!  It's time to Observe! Compare! Contrast! at the Fairbanks Branch Library.  If you want to learn some science concepts through fun activities, then our Sid the Science Kid Camp is for you.  All kids between the ages of 5-10 years old are invited to sign up for our week-long program which meets at 2:00 pm during the week of Monday, September 10 through Friday, September 14, 2012.  We will investigate science tools, force and motion, and the weather among our topics for the week.  Please come by the library to register for the camp or call the library at 713/466-4438 to sign up.  

Creatures of the Sea

Many strange and interesting creatures live in the various oceans and seas around the world.  To learn more about some of these creatures, please browse our new display of books that feature such topics as sharks, whales, and others.  If we don't have a book about a sea creature you want to read about, please ask us and we can interlibrary loan material for you.  Happy Reading!

Famous Lives @ Your Library

Do you like to read about the lives of famous people?  If you do, please browse one of our newest displays which features biographies of some of the well-known men and women of our time.  Famous rock singers, actors, and sports figures are just some of the news makers to be found in the biographies on display.  If you don't find a biography of someone you would like to know more about, please let us know and we can get one for you using our interlibrary loan service.  See you soon and, as always, Happy Reading!

  

Back to School Stories

Oh, yeah, it's almost time for the summer holidays to be over and school to start!  To help you prepare to go back to school, we have a new display of picture books featuring stories about students and schools--"Back to School."  Please browse the books on your next visit to the library and you should find some great stories to read and share.  Enjoy the rest of your summer holidays and Keep on Reading!

Summer Reading Program @ Your Library

Hey Kids!  Have you completed your reading for the 2012 Summer Reading Club?  The Reading Club ends on Saturday, August 11, so please read or listen to 10 books or log 500 minutes so you are eligible to receive your Summer Reading Club certificate.  You still have to time to successfully complete the Reading Club challenge and we really like to award those certificates of completion.  Keep Reading!
