Adult Programs in May @ your library

https://host4.evanced.info/harris/evanced/eventcalendar.aspThe Clear Lake City - County Freeman Branch Library invites you to join us for our Adult Programs this May*.  We look forward to TGIF Programs, various book clubs (mystery, great books, two science fiction/fantasy clubs, and YA Book Club for Adults, Freeman Needlecrafters, Girl Scout Express, Adult Crafts to Go, Clear Lake Area Writers (CLAW), and SCORE Counseling. As May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, we will also be hosting a Passport to India program. Also, check out our SCORE Social Media Marketing and Top Star Marketing & Branding Presentations in May.

We will be closed on Monday, May 27th in honor of Memorial Day.

Adult Crafts-to-Go Celebrates Earth Day!

The April Adult “Crafts-to-Go!” program is now available. In honor of Earth Day (Monday, April 22) we are making Planet Earth Key Chains such as the one seen on the right. The key chain can be made anywhere. All materials needed are included within the bag, compliments of the Friends of Freeman Library, while supplies last.

Mid-Semester Break Hours at the Library

clockLSC-CyFair College is on mid-semester break next week from March 11-17, and all services are closed except for the library.  The library is open during the following schedule:

Monday-Thursday, 3/11-3/14, 8:00am-8:00pm
Friday-Saturday, 3/15-3/16, 10:00am-6:00pm
Sunday, 3/17, 1:00pm-6:00pm

January is National Soup Month!

 

Did you know that January is National Soup Month?  Makes sense, right?  January is the first full month of Winter, and aside from cold soups like gazpacho, soups are traditionally craved, crafted, and consumed during the colder months of the year.

If you want to celebrate National Soup Month by trying your hand at making soup, HCPL has got you covered!  You may know that the Dewey Decimal number for general cookbooks is 641.5, but did you know that soup cookbooks have their very own Dewey number?  It's 641.813.  Of course, many general cookbooks have soup recipes in them, but if you're looking exclusively for soup recipes, you should start at 641.813.  Here are a few of the titles you'll find there:
