Do you like science and candy? Then you are ready to become a science food expert! Join us Monday, July 21st in the Public Meeting Room for our delicious Food Science Lab and experiment creating molecules, DNA strands and edible soil. Hope to see you there!!

Summer Readers Are on a Roll!

Katy readers are going wild this summer!  As of noon today, 153 kids have reached the 10-book level and snagged  some nice prizes.  Four have even reached the 100-book level already.  29 teens have reached the 5-book level with 21 adults right behind them with 5 books read.  You have until August 9th to log in your books.

July Programs in the Children's Department

We're almost half way through the Summer Reading Program, but there's still plenty of time for babies, children, teens, and adults to sign up for the Summer Reading Program.  Children 18 months to 12 years old can read or have read to them 10 books or 500 pages/minutes to get a free book and a certificate.  Parents can sign up babies up to 18 months to do 10 activities to get a certificate and a board book or bib.  The reading part

Save Our Spaceship

Do you know what animals are considered endangered? Would you like to help save these animals and their environments? Then come join us at the Alvin D. Baggette Community Center this Thursday, June 19th at 3 pm, a Traveling Naturalist will be talking about some possible solutions to the threats that these animals come across in the wild and what we can do to help them. She will also bring some animals for us to meet.

Fizz, Boom, Read!

5, 4, 3, 2, 1, Blast Off! The Summer Reading Program has taken off! This year’s theme is “Fizz, Boom, Read” and it has to do with science. We will be experimenting, discovering, and exploring different sciences. So jump into our rocket and launch yourself to a world of knowledge this summer!  You can register online at www.hcpl.net or with a staff member at the library.

Summer Reading Program fun starts Thursday in Children's Department

 On Thursday, the Children's Department kicks off the 2014 Summer Reading Program in style.  When we open at 1 pm, we will have a registration table where volunteers will help children and parents sign up for the Summer Reading Program.  Children of all ages (including babies) will get in on the fun of reading this summer.  Babies through 18 months will get to do 10 activities to get a certificate and a free book or bib; children from
